So I am wearing houndstooth leggings, get over it

Afternoon crazy ones.

We are today back to the alphabet - like Sesame Street but with more feathers and less child labour. Before that I feel it is my duty to tell you I am starting my internship in SIX DAYS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I am the most nervous. You may remember the sheer panic that was caused by me trying to find an interview outfit and that only got seen by one person....(she liked my shoes by the way) but the first day outfit will be seen by all...seen and judged. So you have to make the choice - do you:
Option One - Wear joggers and have everyone think you are a douchebag, hate you for being apparently unfashiony and resolve to give you the nickname Pat Sharpe. Everyone thinks you must be best friends with the CEO of the company to have gotten the job because you smell like Snookie and look like MC Hammer -  but then dazzle them a little bit each day by wearing something more fashiony and having them think you have been inspired by them...
Option Two - Wear the most fabulous black dress, black blazer, skyscraper black heels and black sunglasses inside so people think you are a douchebag and hate you for being pretentious. You will get the nickname Prada as in "The Devil Wears" - but then slowly start wearing less stern clothing each day causing people to possibly thaw out and stop putting salt in your coffee...
Option Three - Wear the most fashionable outfit you have - bordering on fashion insanity - people in the street look at you and think you are cool - people in the office think you are a douchebag and hate you for trying too hard. You will get the nickname Harper (not because of the fashion magazine) but because you look like you have a stylist dressing you like the Beckham's child. The other problem with this is people will expect you to dress as fashiony everyday and that is hard to keep up therefore you have to slowly un-dazzle them each day until you are eventually dressing as option one...
Option Four - Wear moderately fashiony clothes so you can go up or down in the fashion stakes each day. Remember everyone will hate you for the first week anyway because you are interning in fashion - but at least they will call you Becky.

Celebrity or Designer: Paris Hilton - whether you love her or hate her (I secretly love her...shhhh) this girl knows what she is doing when it comes to getting media attention. Earlier this month she turned 31 and threw a bash for her and her closest friends - namely Wiz Khalifa, DJ Afrojack and others of the like. Paris not known for small birthday bashes hosted an 'Eyes Wide Shut' themed party where guests were invited to a modern masquerade ball. To be honest isn't pretty dresses and jewelled masks all of our fantasies! Tons of celebs, tons of booze and tons of fun no doubt. Masks were handed out on arrival and would have caused a lot of random hookups i'm sure... I just think on your birthday you should be who you want to be and wear what you want to wear - so go get it Paris!

C is for Cherish

Good Evening,

Sorry this is quite a late post but we had a power cut...This lead to a hugely amusing conversation about what super powers my Dad and I would have if we could. I naturally chose strength in a cool Buffy The Vampire Slayer kind of way, my Dad chose teleporting - the rest of the evening was spent with him making a weird teleporting noise followed by us trying to guess the end of XMen which is what we had been watching before the power went off. We have both seen it many a time, but I still guessed "doesnt she come back as a robot" and my Dad said "isnt she a pheonix or something" - both incorrect. Obviously we have no clue what is happening. For those of you that know us, well, thats not too strange.

The big news for today - at 48 Whitney Houston has died. So very sad. I have been listening to 'One Moment In Time' on repeat for hours. She wont have anymore moments. Remember that life is short. You come with nothing, you die with nothing, so just love everyone in between. R.I.P Whitney, you were a great talent who just had too much money, too many bad people in your life and not enough support.

Fashion Trend: Chunky footwear - that's right ladies you can pretty much wear wooden blocks on your feet (i've actually seen a few pieces not far off this) and know you're fancy. The daintier the dress, the bigger the shoes. No more 'boy has to be taller than the girl' thing - we want to know if it's raining first. Naturally Topshop is a great place to go to pick up a pair of reasonably priced clunkers, but if you are feeling a little more generous then look at Betsey Johnson who has a couple of really great pairs. Some are a little out-there but i'm rather obsessed with the ones in the picture - and at £150 think they are pretty reasonable. Also - will last through a good few seasons. I think you should buy them...and then lend them to me. You are a size 5 right?

Fashion Item: Cuffs - not what they used to be heh? To me cuffs bring up images of scary bikers and people I generally don't think I should be getting involved with. But now, I would don a helmet and call myself Scary Mama if it meant I could get my hands on this. People say 'I want a good job', which is obviously true for me, but I want a good job so I can buy pretty things! My list/goals is/are things such as: Chloe bag, Missoni dress, Burberry trench, Louboutin power heels....you know, the essentials! So as I have wanted a Chloe for as long as I can remember, they have to be my label for the letter C. Celebrity or Designer: Clemence Poesy. Everyone's new 'it' girl. She is the French 'girl next door'. Unbelievably beautiful, hugely talented and in demand by about every person on the universe at the moment. She has been in a run of incredibly successful films and television programs, starring as Fleur Delacour in a number of the Harry Potter films, Chuck's French girlfriend in Gossip Girl and now a lead in the new TV drama Birdsong. Is there nothing this girl can't do? Apparently not, because besides for making the mega bucks, she is constantly highlighted for her dress sense - classic French beauty. Besides acting, she also sings and quelle surprise is a model. She rocks classic, clean lines, likes muted colours - mainly in black or slate - and is ALWAYS seen in the front row. Whether she is in jeans or a Chanel couture piece, you will be willing to give Gossip Girl any piece of gossip (whether true or not) you have to get close to this beauty.

So grab your chunky heels, pull on a cuff, pick up your clutch and go dance with somebody - it's what Whitney would have wanted.

USP? ABC!!!

Hello Friends,

For those of you that have already read this post you might realise it is slightly different to the last time you looked it over....that is because I managed to delete it.... So this wonderful blog is a newer version of the original!!

The first and most important thing that I told you all was that my blog may look a little different from now on, as I am no longer unemployed!!!! That is right friends, the interview that I was at on Thursday has offered me a position! The company is a PR/branding company called Yellowdoor. It is owned by the red haired power bob herself - Ms Mary Portas. I am BEYOND excited. Starting in March finishing... who knows. Perhaps three months, perhaps never if I can sneak into the showroom and hide amongst the Acne jeans!!

Anyway I attribute some of my new success and the above job offer to blogging. Due to my new found love of this art I have been checking out other blogs. The things people write about are often awe-inspiring and sometimes a little creepy. I saw blogs where girls let their boyfriends choose their outfits, blogs where women wear man-repelling but fabulous clothes and even blogs where people write what (and unfortunately who) they want to do before they die. Enlightening to say the least. So I decided I wanted to do the same sort of thing with my blog. Make it into a 'something'. So, to start out small, for the next 26 days I will be doing an alphabet of fabulous things. Fashion trends, fashion item, store or label I am loving and celebrity or designer in the news. Fashion Trends: Aquatics - Now before you all rush out and buy yourselves a tail and start calling your best friend Sebastian, I am talking about prints, shimmer and sharktooth necklaces! Everyone from Chanel through to Giorgio Armani sent fishy fun down the S/S12 runway and it is beautiful to say the least. Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel showed sheer dresses with koi carp swimming amongst small circular scales - sounds odd, but once seen is beautiful. For those who are willing to go all the way, get a piece with fish, sea horses or shells on it, for those who are less keen, fishy jewellery and bright coloured pieces with shimmer also work. It brings a whole new meaning to the game 'Go Fish'.

Celebrity or Designer: Adele. I know this is so two days ago, but everyone is talking about Karl Lagerfeld calling Adele fat. What people are less quick to post is that he said she has 'a beautiful face and a divine voice'. This is the point, if Adele lost weight she may not sound the same and I am too obsessed with her for that to change. A lot of people are up in arms about this, but the truth is she is a little bigger than the average superstar. It was perhaps a little mean that KL used the word fat but we all know he would skin his mother and wear her as a coat if he thought it would shock. So Adele keep singing songs about heart break and Karl, keep making dresses that break my heart!
