Is it superman? No its Betsey Johnson showing her pants - same diff'

Thursday marks the end of it all - the chairs are folded away, the sunglasses are popped back in their pouches and the millions of empty bottles of Vitamin Water are recycled. That cant be it for another year you cry?!! I have just learnt that Marchesa and tulle are my new best friends! Just learnt that its ok to wear black on black in the spring and not feel like im going to a funeral! And ive just learnt its ok to wear your pants on the outside of your outfit....oh wait, Betsey Johnson you sweet sweet fashion psycho. But alas, do not fret friends, we still have three weeks to go!! And the best part is...its all coming to London on Friday! Hoards of fashionistas are plucking, tanning, polishing and fretting over the next week, in a capital that will see the likes of Cara Delevingne stood next to David Gandy, stood next to Tinie Tempah, stood next to Jourdan Dunn...yeah im not sure im going to bother leaving the house either. Don't worry though, at the end of the day there will still be a lot of this going around....

Betsey Johnson - Vogue.co.uk

NYFW has seen some amazing pieces this week - follow these trends and you will be just fabulous:

- Peek-a-boo Sheers
- Monochrome
- Geo Prints
- Blue
- Ethereal - Silvers and tulle
- Boxy Cuts/Volume
- Pastels
- Sports-luxe
- Barely-there Dresses

Some of my favourite designers showed this season and as per usual they exceeded my expectation and completely blew me away with the beauty and intricacy of their pieces. Here are my favourite ensembles from NYFW SS14.

Betsey Johnson (Vogue.co.uk) - Do you remember when you were little and you had that one Barbie that looked like she should be in some sort of black arts ballet? Massive black tulle skirt, pink hair, sparkle EVERYWHERE? Well Betsey Johnson has taken that child-like love and run with it. Her collections are nothing if not fun and inspiring, bringing out the feelings we used to have as a 7 year old in our purple party dress. She has the 'eff you' quality of McQueen, the tulle use of Marchesa and the fashion sense of .... well like I said, Barbie...and we love her with our whole Dream House. Way more than Barbie loves Ken.

Marchesa (Vogue.co.uk) - You may not have the body, the money, the royal husband....or the sister...but secretly most of us dream of a day which rivals even the most stunning of Duchesses. All dress and no drunk uncles. Well, like ive said to you before, the word Marchesa strikes fear into my mother's heart. Not only because it will cost her most of her life savings, but also because she is genuinely afraid (with good reason) that I will wear a black Marchesa wedding dress when the day finally arrives. The tulle, the lace, the crystals, the feathers, the eye-watering detail make for a dress that will turn the head of the most royal of royals. So beautiful, it is everything I want in a wedding....who needs a hubz anyway?

Alice + Olivia (Vogue.co.uk) - One of the only collections I believe could truly be taken from catwalk to store with no in between interference. The colours, the cuts, the separates, the dresses - all other worldly whilst still being completely in my grasp. One of my favourite ever outfits was when Carrie (SATC) wore a purple prom skirt with a Dior t-shirt - it completely changed my outlook on formal and casual. Ever since I have been completely obsessed with flowing skirts and tees and apparently so has A+O...

Vera Wang (Vogue.co.uk) - I could never forgive myself if Vera wasn't included. She understands the female form better than almost every other designer known to mankind. If you glance quickly below, you will likely see a simple yet elegant blue dress. But what I see is a dress that makes a slim girl curvy. A dress which accentuates an already striking neck and a beautifully pale complexion. A dress that turns heads. A dress that makes a female, a woman. The whole collection is sheer, but at no point smutty. She has the perfect balance of feminine grace and sultry seduction. Perfection.

Sass & Bide (Vogue.co.uk) - As you will find out when we see Celine's collection, my weakness is a woman in a suit that could kill a man if he looks directly at it. As someone who wants to be a strong female boss (not in a strange Tulisa way....) I am a sucker for the new-age power suit. This Sass & Bide white trouser with bustier just kills me. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I.Die"

Time to get some rest now and ill see you in the FROW at LFW for SS14 - geez so many acronyms, so little time...

C is for Cherish

Good Evening,

Sorry this is quite a late post but we had a power cut...This lead to a hugely amusing conversation about what super powers my Dad and I would have if we could. I naturally chose strength in a cool Buffy The Vampire Slayer kind of way, my Dad chose teleporting - the rest of the evening was spent with him making a weird teleporting noise followed by us trying to guess the end of XMen which is what we had been watching before the power went off. We have both seen it many a time, but I still guessed "doesnt she come back as a robot" and my Dad said "isnt she a pheonix or something" - both incorrect. Obviously we have no clue what is happening. For those of you that know us, well, thats not too strange.

The big news for today - at 48 Whitney Houston has died. So very sad. I have been listening to 'One Moment In Time' on repeat for hours. She wont have anymore moments. Remember that life is short. You come with nothing, you die with nothing, so just love everyone in between. R.I.P Whitney, you were a great talent who just had too much money, too many bad people in your life and not enough support.

Anyway, I will continue what I have started and bring you...

CARRIN WEDGE BOOTIES WITH BUCKLE - Betsey Johnson

Booties with Buckle
Fashion Trend: Chunky footwear - that's right ladies you can pretty much wear wooden blocks on your feet (i've actually seen a few pieces not far off this) and know you're fancy. The daintier the dress, the bigger the shoes. No more 'boy has to be taller than the girl' thing - we want to know if it's raining first. Naturally Topshop is a great place to go to pick up a pair of reasonably priced clunkers, but if you are feeling a little more generous then look at Betsey Johnson who has a couple of really great pairs. Some are a little out-there but i'm rather obsessed with the ones in the picture - and at £150 think they are pretty reasonable. Also - will last through a good few seasons. I think you should buy them...and then lend them to me. You are a size 5 right?

Cuff - Net-A-Porter

Fashion Item: Cuffs - not what they used to be heh? To me cuffs bring up images of scary bikers and people I generally don't think I should be getting involved with. But now, I would don a helmet and call myself Scary Mama if it meant I could get my hands on this. It is a little 'spensy at £2,180...well ok, it's more like 3 months wages, but isn't she the most beautiful thing ever?!! AND...it has shells on it - ummm can someone say 'Aquatics' post three days ago? Buy her, wear her and then use her as a fancy cup holder until shells come back in. Don't say I never help you out... (http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/176468)

Store or Label: Chloe - i'm afraid there really wasnt any other choice for me here. I dont have goals like normal people; I plan in objects. People say 'I want a good job', which is obviously true for me, but I want a good job so I can buy pretty things! My list/goals is/are things such as: Chloe bag, Missoni dress, Burberry trench, Louboutin power heels....you know, the essentials! So as I have wanted a Chloe for as long as I can remember, they have to be my label for the letter C. Go onto Net-A-Porter, look at all the Chloe day bags in tan and realise that like me, you also will dream of saying 'I Do' to Chloe and not to Steve.

Celebrity or Designer: Clemence Poesy. Everyone's new 'it' girl. She is the French 'girl next door'. Unbelievably beautiful, hugely talented and in demand by about every person on the universe at the moment. She has been in a run of incredibly successful films and television programs, starring as Fleur Delacour in a number of the Harry Potter films, Chuck's French girlfriend in Gossip Girl and now a lead in the new TV drama Birdsong. Is there nothing this girl can't do? Apparently not, because besides for making the mega bucks, she is constantly highlighted for her dress sense - classic French beauty. Besides acting, she also sings and quelle surprise is a model. She rocks classic, clean lines, likes muted colours - mainly in black or slate - and is ALWAYS seen in the front row. Whether she is in jeans or a Chanel couture piece, you will be willing to give Gossip Girl any piece of gossip (whether true or not) you have to get close to this beauty.

So grab your chunky heels, pull on a cuff, pick up your clutch and go dance with somebody - it's what Whitney would have wanted.
